SOLARGRAPHY

Solargraphy is a fairly young field of photography, combining old fields and techniques with a new vision and modern technology.

Solargraphy is a combination of the pinhole technique and long exposure. It is, in a sense, astrophotography because it captures the apparent path of the sun across the sky, and after all, the sun is a star.

Each photo is taken with a one-off, handmade camera that remains in one place for two weeks to a year, recording the sun's daily path on a single piece of photographic paper.

A negative is created on paper, which is then digitally developed and printed. The negative is impermanent, poorly scanned and cannot be developed again.

The main disadvantage, but also the advantage of solargraphy is unpredictability, incorrect camera positioning, improper mounting, weather conditions and damage caused by people, often destroying the effect and after a long period of waiting, instead of the joy of beautiful photography, there is disappointment. However, this allows me to try again. After all, one of them must be successful.

You can see the effects of successful attempts here today.
